A Guide To Finding Yourself: Day 1

I’m so glad you found your way here. I’m even happier to be sharing this journey with you.

And now you're probably asking yourself, what journey?

This journey, well we can just call it life. Embracing it, Empowering ourselves to live it and finally Growing it to be what we envision.

Day 1: It’s always the roughest but always the most worthwhile!

I wanted to give this journey to rediscover who I am, all I had. No half way, it was all or nothing.

This summer was honestly one of the hardest chapters of my life. We had several ups and downs but in the end we always managed to stay strong as a family. From almost losing my husband in June after an incident while he was on duty to a much needed getaway with just my son and I, these events (and all in between) definitely took a toll on my mental and physical health.

Hence, the reason for my determination and dedication. As I was deciding the route to go in getting back to my authentic self, I realized many others could probably benefit from this.

This is where you come in and I’m so excited to have you taking this journey with me!

Journey Journal Entry 8.22

As reluctant as I was, I set my alarm for 6AM today (I know that’s not crazy early but for a non morning person, this is me doing amazing!). I got out of bed and despite being half asleep still, pushed myself through day 1 of a morning routine. You can see my routine outline below. I keep it loose so I can adjust if need be, I’ve learned being pinned to a hard idea doesn’t always work for me. My brain is usually going a million miles a minute and some days I wake up and may need a different direction to get my morning started, and that’s ok. Go with the Flow!

Today I really worked on what I like to call Getting Back to Basics! These were my Top 5 focuses for today.

  1. Body Harmony: How does my body like to move? For me I need a little movement in the mornings and then an afternoon break. Stretching is my go to in the morning and usually either some cardio (walking) or just some goofy dancing.

  2. Mind Harmony: What does my mind need when I need peace? When I need to refocus my mind, depending on the day, I may need some music time with songs reflecting my emotions, maybe I need to dive into and get lost in a book, or maybe I just need to step away and get some fresh air.

  3. Organize Your Day: Find a schedule that works for you and stick to it. I like to block sections of time throughout the day and color code them so planner looks more fun. The biggest thing here is find a section of time each day to recenter and focus yourself (even if it’s 5 or 10min) and stick to this each day.

  4. Attune to Yourself: When starting out on your journey this can be helpful to add to your “you time” section each day. Sit quietly with your thoughts for 1-2min. Let the thoughts come and pass, write them down during this time or while your in your attunement time.

  5. Prioritize and Rid Yourself of the Noise: Using the list you made during your attunement we can now prioritize what is important and get rid of those items that are not. The most therapeutic process for me is this! Looking at the list decide which thoughts no longer need to rent space in your head. Acknowledge these and verbally state that they no longer get to take space in your head. The remaining items you can now prioritize based on what’s most urgent or important.

Daily Routine-Morning (central time)

6AM Wake Up

Meditation: I use a meditation podcast and rotate which one most reflects my

needs for the morning/day.

6:30AM Quick 10min yoga: Pick one that fits what you need (i.e. energy, calm, focus)

7:00AM Make coffee and Personal Brand Focus Block

7:30AM Get ready for work (my 8-6)

-I have an hour block each evening for family dinner time

-I have an hour block each evening to focus on personal branding/content/growth

-I have a 30min block for bedtime routine (nothing set in stone just my trigger to wind down and get ready for bed)

Until tomorrow, have a wonderful and restful evening!

XOXO

Meg
